Over the years, they were blessed with six grandchildren who also survive them: Alexis Stanley, Ashleigh Stanley, William Stanley, Morgan (Dunston) McNeill (Devin), April (Dunston) Snowden (Nathan) and Tyler Dunston, all of whom reside in North Carolina; and two great-grandchildren, Devin McNeill Jr. and Kynnedy McNeill. In addition to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, James is survived by three brothers, John L. Fletcher (Kate) of Havelock, N.C., Joseph Fletcher (Christine) of Hamden, and Larry Fletcher (Donna) of Lisbon; and five sisters, Mary A. (Fletcher) Barboza (Antonio-deceased) of Norwich, Joyce A. (Fletcher) Evans (Gary-deceased) of New London, Brenda L. (Fletcher) Barnes (Charlton) of Norwich, Sandra (Fletcher) Owens (Albert-deceased) of Norwich, and Veronica Y. He was the proud uncle to more than 100 nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephew; and great-great-nieces and nephews; and he is survived by a host of cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Public viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 26, with a funeral service starting at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 11 Jerome Road, Uncasville. Private Interment is at Maplewood Cemetery. Service entrusted to the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home.

Jimmy, It was truly a pleasure to know you and talk to you as a friend...at work or in golf tournaments ..your sense of humor was infectious ..and provided good cause to laugh at the foibles of life ..you loved your family and your friends equally and it showed what a fine example of a christian you were..I miss you already and pray that the Lord comforts your family and friends , until by God's grace , we meet again ...

James was the most quiet and loving of life person I know. Ed had so many great times over my 50 years of being his friend and golfing partner. Together we won our full share of golf tournaments with many of laughs. My dear friend please RIP and I will always miss you. My heart is heavy for the lost of you.
