James Larkin Obituary
James was born in New Britain, a loving son of John and Bonnie (MacGregor) Larkin of Stonington. For 20 years, James was a revered and respected teacher at Haddam-Killingworth High School, and served with a passion as a coach for the boys' soccer team, the girls' golf team and the track team. His strong connection with his students was extraordinary and inspiring. James also served with the Army National Guard, 141 Medical Co., in New Britain, and was an honors graduate from the Primary Education Leadership Program.
For his entire life, James was adored and admired as a son, brother, husband, father and friend. James had the unique ability to make anyone laugh and his spirit and energy were infectious – his love and vitality will never be forgotten, and his legacy will live on in every single life that he touched.
In addition to his wife, children and parents, he is survived by his brother John Scott Larkin and his wife Brenda Larkin of Rocky Hill, and their children John Tyler and Kevin; sister Kathleen Larkin McAneany and her husband Tim McAneany of Madison, and their children Erin and Ryan; and his sister-in-law Amy Jacques-Purdy and her husband Brian Purdy of Haddam, and their children Samuel and Andrew.
Calling hours are open to all and will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. An additional memorial service will be held at Haddam-Killingworth High School to honor and celebrate James' life – all students, former and present, along with faculty and friends are invited to join in this celebration.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the James S. Larkin Memorial Scholarship. Checks can be mailed to Haddam Killingworth High School, 95 Little City Road, Higganum, CT 06441. To share memories or express condolences online, please visit www.biegafuneralhome.com.

First, my heart felt and sincerest condolences to Jamie's family and loved ones. Jamie truly was a great friend. He was so kind, considerate and his sense of humor, that big old smile was everything to me. He made me feel welcome when I felt out of my element back in High School. My first experience with Catholic School was St. Thomas Aquinas in New Britain. It was a hard transition for me but Jamie from Day 1, made me feel welcome and kept me laughing all the time. I sadly regret that I had not kept in contact with Jamie after HS. To his parents, wife, kids and siblings, again, I am so very sorry for your loss and pray for Jamie and each of you. I had the incredible pleasure of working with James for a short few months at HK. He was a funny, happy go lucky man who was loved and respected by all. The news of his passing is heart breaking. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. You will certainly be missed, James.

My heart and prayers go out to the Larkin family! Jamie was a year or two older than me but he never made anyone feel younger or less! He was always such a sweetheart! I remember missing the bus to school a few times and knowing Id see Jamie come around the corner if I just waited five minutes! It is pains my heart to hear of this news! I would like to say I am very saddened to hear the passing of Jamie Larkin. I meant Jamie back in elementary school. One of the best guys I've ever met. We ran track and field together in high school. Every time we were together non-stop laughter. I haven't seen him since high school. But he is someone you can never forget! Definitely gone way too soon. I always thought we'd see each other after 25 years. We will meet again soon my friend. Again my deepest condolences to the Larkin family.
