James Lyon Obituary

Franklin - James Morgan Lyon, of Franklin, and Palm Bay, Fla., passed away peacefully at home Nov. 29, 2024, after battling Parkinson's Disease and dementia. He was born Oct. 17, 1954, in Sylvester, Ga., to Morgan Jackson Lyon and Jewel (Wilson) Lyon.

He graduated from Worth County High School, Georgia, and attended Thames River Technical College and New England Tech.

James was a high voltage electrician employed at the Sub Base in Groton, until his retirement in 2015. He was also a Rhode Island commercial fisherman.

James married Robin Hewlitt May 26, 1984, at Harkness Chapel in New London.

He is survived by his wife; his sons, James "Brad" Lyon of Cumberland, R.I., and David Lyon of Franklin. He is also survived by his siblings, Fred (Dianne) Lyon of Alapaha, Ga., Athie Lyon of Ashburn, Ga., and Mary Lyon of Sumner, Ga.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial were held in Tifton, Ga. Bowen Donaldson Funeral Home of Tifton and Woyasz Funeral Home of Norwich assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations and be made to Rock Steady Boxing, Inc., 6847 Hillsdale Court, Indianapolis, IN 46250.
