James Perry Obituary

New London - James Perry III went onto eternal glory on Friday, June 4, 2010.

He was born in New London March 20, 1960, to Barbara Lee Hickerson and James Perry, Jr. He grew up in a loving home and had several siblings, Brenda, Joyce, Karen, Cynthia, Barbara Jean, Dolores, David, Keith, Rosemary, Sherryl and Lauren.

He graduated from Fitch High School in Groton and later served in the United States Air Force for four years. He was a member of the Laborers Local #547 for 32 years and was most recently employed with the J. F. White Contracting Company until his retirement.

James was married to his wife, Linda Thomas Perry, of 25 wonderful years, during which time they had the joy of raising four loving children, Jessica, Kristen, Timothy, and David. He also leaves his mother in law, Claudette Thomas, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His love of the Lord led him into many years of faithful service at Covenant Temple alongside his beloved Pastor John Gomes. James was mentor and friend to many, loved by all, and will surely be missed.

His family will receive relatives and friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Avenue, New London, followed by a time of fellowship at the Waterford Community Center. Also please join us for a celebration of his life from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at Covenant Temple, 36 Huntsbrook Rd., Quaker Hill.

Looking at James photo I remember the time, the place, and the man. A great man who produced some great memories in our in lives. I don't know why this one came to mind.

One day back in the day when I was visiting James, Linda and Jessica. I stopped by and brought Jessica some chips and an Ice cream sandwich for Jessica. Jessica was asleep in bed and the ice cream sandwich was going to melt. Who did I see eating the ice cream sandwich a few minute later? James, with a smile on his face. I can see him now..

My prayers are with you all.

Please accept my prayers during this trying time. It is always difficult to losing a loved one. Went to high school with James. The last time I saw him, was when I worked mid-night at the New London Post Office. Just by chance we met at the Dunkin' Donuts on Broad St. After 20 years we still recognized each other. That was about 12 years ago. God Bless and may your family receive the peace that only God brings.
