Jane Mason

North Stonington - Jane (Bartlett) Mason, 94, of North Stonington, beloved wife for 70 years of the late Robert Broadstreet Mason, passed away into the Arms of her Savior Jesus Christ Thursday, July 14, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. Born in Holden, Mass., daughter of the late Henry and Stella (Hazelton) Bartlett, Jane earned her BA from Wheelock College and M.Ed. from CCSU.

She taught first grade in both West Hartford and Groton, after raising her family. She was a founding member of Grace Fellowship in North Stonington, where she served joyfully. She lived out her Christian faith through personal involvement in prison ministry, prayer groups, Good News Clubs and missions. Jane had the gift of hospitality and was known for her apple pies and clam chowder as she loved to cook and shared recipes well into her 90s.

She is survived by four children: Lizabeth Abramson (Jay) of Avon, David Mason of North Stonington, Susan Ward (James) of Groton, and Janice Gouvin (Neil) of North Stonington; eight grandchildren: Nathan (Cailyn) Abramson, Jesse Abramson, Adam (Adiel) Abramson, Alexandra Souza (Richard), Zachary and Max Urso and Rachel and Jessica Ward; as well as eight great-grandchildren: Nuria, Annie Mae, Yagel, and Raphael Abramson, Bella and Noah Abramson, and Adelyn, Fallon and Tauren Souza.

Private graveside services for her family will be held in the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 24, at Grace Fellowship Church, 102 Providence-New London Turnpike, North Stonington.
