Janet Brigham Obituary
Janet was born in the South End of Hartford to Leona and Edward McCarthy, where she grew up. She started her family in Wethersfield, and later moved to Niantic. She was a faithful Catholic and taught CCD. Jan was employed at the Bureau of Business Practice for nine years.
She is survived by her children, Peter Brigham (Maureen), Timothy Brigham (Michele) and MaryLee Shaw; grandchildren: Dylan, Lindsay, Hannah, Hope, Casey, Patrick, Jack, Connor and Brodie and their respective spouses; and great-grandchildren, Addison, Finn and Theo.
Our family would like to acknowledge her first-born granddaughter, Lindsay Shaw, as a nurse who took exceptional care of her grandmother for the last four months. To everyone at Pendleton Rehabilitation and Nursing Home Facility, thank you. "Nana" loved you all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, at Saint Agnes Church in Niantic, followed by a gathering at the Flanders Fish Market. The Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand Street, Niantic is assisting the family.

So very sorry to just learn of Janet's passing. I knew Janet from high school and was best man at her wedding to Jack Brigham. She was a lovely gentle person who took great pride and love in her family. My sincere condolences to Peter, Tim and Mary Lee. God Bless

In recent years I had the pleasure of seeing Jan weekly and exchanging life´s stories. No matter the weather or even when it was obvious that she was not feeling at her best, she was always a ray of sunshine when she came in to see me. I have other clients who periodically exchanged conversations with her and they have noticed that sadly she has not been in. She will be obviously missed by all who knew her and loved her, but even by strangers who only had the pleasure of briefly being in her presence. God bless Jan. She touched more lives than she knew. I remember your mother back when you lived on Black Point Road with the tennis courts out front and the tracks in the back. She seemed like such a composed, quiet, pleasant woman who always asked me about how my mother was doing. Even when things were hard in the 1970s, and things were hard for many of Back Then, she always seemed to have an extra supply of calmness and kindness for all those around her. Kind words. Words of optimism. For this, I will always honor her memory. The last time I saw her she was younger than I am now by twenty years, such does time fly wild. Hopefully, we can meet again in some realm, and talk about old times. Surely, we will laugh, even when we want to cry. There, is peace.
