Janet Lewis Obituary

Lebanon - On Dec. 29, 2022, Janet Elizabeth (McCaw) Lewis, 59, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 4, 1963, in Willimantic, to James and Geraldine (Manning) McCaw.

Janet was a woman of great faith, an active member of her community, and took great pride in her civil service throughout her lifetime. Her many passions included a fondness for children, travel, the beach, gardening, pulling ponies and a devotion to agriculture. Janet could often be seen on sunny days haying the Lebanon Green. These passions came second only to her love of family, especially her two-year-old grandson who brought her smiles and joy, brightening her final days.

She will be forever loved and missed by her parents; her partner Peter Harvey of Lebanon; her children, David Lewis and his significant other Melissa Goerlach of Groton Long Point, Elizabeth Lewis of North Stonington, and Catherine (Lewis) Learned, husband Benjamin and grandson Elsdon Learned of North Stonington; her sisters, Judi Larsen and husband Klaus, and Jeanna Prink and husband Bruce; as well as numerous other extended family and friends. Janet is predeceased by her husband, the late David "Hummer" Lewis.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at the First Congregational Church of Lebanon, 588 Exeter Road, Lebanon. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at the church with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the First Congregational Church of Lebanon, PO Box 125, Lebanon, CT 06249 or to the Congregational Church of North Stonington, PO Box 66, North Stonington, CT 06359. David, Liz & Cat,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Your Mom was a great lady. Enjoyed our time with her at the farm and at the fairs. She and you Dad always made sure Doc was well feed! May God Bless you and your families.
