Janet Morrissey Obituary
Janet was a selfless woman who spent her life in service to others. At an early age she joined the Maryknoll Sisters to express her devotion to God and with a desire to help around the world. As she completed the novitiate, she realized she wanted to help those here at home, leaving the convent to embark on a career in social work that spanned 35 plus years working in upstate New York. She touched the lives of so many and was so loved.
Janet was a generous and humble woman, with a wicked sense of humor and endless talent. She loved the opera and enjoyed gardening, music, calligraphy, designing and sewing, and the arts. She spent the majority of her life in New York but later moved to Mystic, to be closer to family. She passed away quietly at her home in Mystic, at the age of 88.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Beal; friends and family, and those whose lives she has touched along the way. She is greatly missed.
A graveside service is planned this spring at St. Peter's in Troy, NY, as well as a remembrance service at Masonicare in Mystic where she resided.

Dianne, so sorry to hear of your Mom´s passing. I have known her since you were a baby, my mom (Peg) used to babysit for you while Jan worked. I would take you "uptown" on Saturday mornings and pick up a few things for your mom.
In later years, I ran into her when we both worked for NYS Social Services in Albany. She was a wonderful mother and good friend.

Hi Dianne, We are so very sorry to hear of your mom´s passing. We lost track of her many years ago that seem like yesterday. She was such a wonderful person! We´re glad she spent her last years near you. Whenever I look over to her apartment I can still see her with her "no see `ums" hat on tending to her beautiful lilac bush and flower garden. She has been missed and often thought of for quite a few years already. Now we know she is with our Lord.
