Jared Sampson Obituary

Preston - Jared Sampson, 33, of Preston, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016, from complications after a four year battle with Mitochondrial Disease, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and friends.

Jared was born May 17, 1983, at L+M, and lived in Preston most of his life. He attended Preston Schools and graduated from NFA in 2001. He pursued undergraduate studies at UCONN and CCSU.

Jared is survived by his mother, Patricia Sampson and stepfather, Frank Bean, of Mystic; father, Robert Sampson of Salem; stepmother, Karen Samokar of Norwich; his sister and best friend, Julie; and maternal grandmother, Dorothy McGeowan of Norwich. He is also survived my many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by grandparents, Robert Sampson Jr., Marion Sampson Camp and John McGeowan.

Besides being an amazing friend to many, he was a great mentor and affected the lives of many children. He was uncle Jared to many. Jared loved the outdoors and always had fishing poles in his car ready to go if he found a good spot. He was a huge sports fan with the Patriots and Red Sox being his favorites.

There will be a celebration of his life at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, in the atrium at NFA with a reception to follow. In true Jared fashion attire is casual, therefore shorts and sandals are encouraged.

As his wish, his ashes will be scattered privately at his favorite fishing hole.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Mitochondrial Disease.
