Joan Brown Obituary
Joan was born in West Palm Beach, Fla. and was the daughter of the late Marietta (Adams-Carson) and William Bradford Merry.
Joan's true passion in life was tending to her beautiful seaside garden in Noank. She also taught elementary school for many years before retiring from Renbrook School in West Hartford.
She will be remembered by her daughter, Karen E. Hightower and her husband, Owen, of North Palm Beach, Fla.; her son, Robert F. Eleder and his wife, Margo, of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. She was a loving grandmother to her three cherished grandchildren, Nicholas E., Katelyn M. and Ryan P. Spinelli, all of Lake Worth, Fla.; a sister, Nancy Casten; and a brother, Robert Carson, both of West Palm Beach, Fla.
Joan's family would like to thank Hospice of Palm Beach County for their caring attention, guidance, and the comfort they showed to the family. The family would also like to thank all the staff at Clare Bridge of Tequesta, Fla. for their loving care during the short time she resided there.
Services for Ms. Brown will be private.

Dear Karen,
I have many fond memories of your Mother, a special teacher with whom I taught in Scarsdale, and then when she moved to West Hartford we reconnected. She was a woman who brought much joy to life. My sympathy to you and your entire family, Ann Newbury

We enjoyed many visits with your mother in her home in Noank. She certainly took pride in her garden and her homes, both in Noank and West Hartford. Thanks to you for the care you provided her in her time of need.
