Joan Grindle Obituary
She was born in Hartford June 25, 1940, the daughter of Charles and Marion Robinson Masini. She was the widow of Frederick Grindle who died Feb. 20, 2018.
Mrs. Grindle was retired having been employed as a LPN for Masonicare Overlook. She was a member of the Groton Bible Chapel where she served in Sunday School.
She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Petrini and her husband Ken of Waterford; and stepdaughter Tammy Hickey. She has two grandchildren, Matthew Hannan and Ryan Hannan; five step-grandchildren, Tracy Vogt, Tyler Petrini, Leah Petrini, Natalie Petrini and Nick Petrini. She was predeceased by her brothers, Charles and Kevin; and by her sister Jane.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Groton Bible Chapel, 66 Toll Gate Rd., Groton. There are no calling hours. The Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic is assisting the family. Condolences may be shared on Joan's memorial page at www.neilanfuneralhome.com.

How privileged we were to have known Joan. She was a light and a comfort to me and many others I know. Our sincerest condolences to Jen, Tammy and to her family who knew and loved her.

Joanne is how she introduced herself to mom & I just days after moving across the street from the Grindle's on Matthews St. in Bristol. Her daughter,
Jenny became my very best friend. So Joanne was like a second mother to me. Where ever Jenny went, they took me. Jenny & I would be playing Barbie's at my house and Joanne would call my mom to "send the girls over for lunch". I spent so many weekend nights watching movies (on the fold out couch) with a big bowl of popcorn Joanne would make us. I remember all the cakes she use to bake & beautifully decorate. Joanne was a wonderful and wise woman, she was always loving and caring, always smiling and happy, always laughing and spending time with extended family, and always doing for others. She and Fred were always together, when they weren't working hard to provide a beautiful family life. My life was and is better because Joanne was part of it. You are loved and will be missed.
