John Garbarino Obituary

Mystic - John F. Garbarino of Mystic, age 80, died unexpectedly June 2, 2025. "Jack" was born to the late Frederick and Agnes Garbarino Jan. 19, 1945, in Hartford. Jack graduated from Babson College. He served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a branch Manager for the former Union Trust Bank in Olde Mistick Village. Upon retiring from the bank, he continued to pursue his many interests and excelled at all his hobbies.

He was involved in many community organizations including Rotary Club, camera club, Quiambaug Fire Department, and was a devoted volunteer at the Mystic Seaport Museum rebuilding engines.

He is survived by his sister, Rye Griswold of Massachusetts; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and two sisters-in-law, Janet Flinkstrom and Diane Clark. He was predeceased by his wife, Susan (Clay) Garbarino.

Jack's family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, June 16, at the Mystic Funeral Home, located on Route 1 in Mystic. All services and burial will be held privately.
