Marchita Foster Obituary

Waterford - Marchita "Marty" Nadine Foster, 82, formerly of Montville, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014. at Greentree Rehabilitation in Waterford.

Born in What Cheer, Iowa, on July 4, 1931, she was married for 40 years to Patrick M. Foster, who was a Montville town counselor at the time of his death in 1992. Marty was the republican assistant registrar in Montville for over 20 years.

She was a gifted craftsperson working on crewel embroidery, crocheting, ceramics, sewing, upholstering, refinishing furniture, wall papering and custom framing. She had a lifelong dream of being an artist focusing on drawing and painting.

While her husband Pat was in the Navy, they welcomed as many as 20 families into their home while those families became settled in the area. Those families became lifelong friends.

She is survived by her children, Patrick Foster and his wife, Connie, of Jacksonville, Fla., Bruce Foster of Versailles, Victoriah Hall and Jennifer Holloway and her husband, Kerry, all of Quaker Hill; nine grandchildren, Patrick L. Foster of Jacksonville, Fla., Timothy Foster of Versailles, Christopher Gauthier and his wife, Keri, of Waterford, Kathryn Lee and her husband, Johnny, of Dayton, Texas, Julie, Rick, Benjamin, and Catherine Matzul, all of Oakdale, Kellie Willson and her husband, Michael, of Guam; and eleven great-grandchildren, Milana, Alexus, Boston, Eva, Brandon, Kannon, Logan, Savannah, Sydni, Samantha, and Leiana.

She was predeceased by her brother, Billy Oldaker of Buffalo, N.Y.; and her sister, Orvelda Anderson of Iowa City, Iowa.

Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London is in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.

You were my best friend growing up. We did everything together. I will always have those memories. I am so thankful that I got to travel up there in januray to see you again. I knew when I left it would be the last time I saw you here on this earth and it was so hard to leave. Your with grandpa now and that brings so much peace to my heart. Watch over us and protect us. I love you.
