John Shepardson Obituary
He was born Oct. 28, 1926, in Wallingford, the son of the late Douglas Auld and Blanche (Barret) Shepardson. His beloved wife, Beverly (Bristol) Shepardson, died in February of 2016. The couple had been married for 56 years.
John was a veteran of World War II, where he was stationed on the USS Alabama. He was a graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall, Wallingford, Williams College Class of 1952 and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1964. His career at Pratt and Whitney spanned 35 years. After retirement, John continued to work for the Naval Underwater Warfare Center until 2000. A faithful member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Niantic, John was a lay minister of communion, a lector, served on the vestry, and was a long-time member of the church choir.
John is survived by two children and their spouses, Gordon and Jennifer Shepardson of Manchester and Barbara and Michael Burruano of Amston; five grandchildren, Matthew Burruano and wife, Chelsea, of Tolland, Abigail Burruano of Riverview, Fla., Allessandra, Timothy and Douglas Burruano of Amston; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Chelsea Hobbs.
John's life will be celebrated during a memorial service to be held at 11:30 a.m. July, 31, 2018, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 400 Main St., Niantic. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church's Mission and Outreach program, 400 Main St., Niantic, CT 06357-3126.
