Dear Virginia and family and friends of John E. Sweat, MMCS(SS),
On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans - USSVI, please accept our sincere sympathy at Johns passing. You are in our thoughts and prayers. May you find kindness to warm you, sympathy to comfort you, and cherished memories to bring peace to your heart.
We are forever grateful for John's service to our country in the United States Submarine service. John joined the Navy in 1956 and retired as a MMCS(SS) in 1976. Besides serving on several submarines, he was an Instructor at the US Navy Submarine School in Groton, CT for two years and was also a member of the USS Tullibee SSN 597 Association. John was a crewmember on the John served on the USS Corsair (SS-435), USS Conger (SS-477), USS Thomas Jefferson (SSBN-618), USS Will Rogers (SSBN-659), and was Chief of the Boat on the USS Tullibee (SSN-597). To our Brother of the Phin we say, Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch.
