John Walker Obituary
Jeff graduated from New York Military Academy with many honors including the corps' most Honorable Cadet, went on to receive an architectural design and building construction degree from Temple University, and served as a member of the U.S. Navy Air Reserves during the Vietnam era.
Several years after college, he was invited by an NYMA classmate to join his newly formed Trump Organization, where Jeff became senior vice president and thrived under his many diversified responsibilities. He oversaw the conversion of the Commodore Hotel into the Grand Hyatt on 42nd Street, the construction of Trump Tower, served on the board of directors of the Trump Shuttle, and managed the purchase and refit of the 273-ft. M/Y Trump Princess, along with many other interesting projects.
Jeff joined Colgate Palmolive Company in 1991, as director of facilities where he was involved with real estate. He was awarded many times at Colgate for his corporate stewardship and contributions. While at Colgate, he also served as president of the business advisory board of Just One Break, an organization started by Eleanor Roosevelt, whose mission was to place qualified applicants with disabilities in expanded corporate job opportunities. He also was on the building committee of St. Bartholomew's Church on Park Avenue and was instrumental in the establishment of Inside Park at the church.
Throughout his career, he enjoyed mentoring many professionals and entrepreneurial businesses. He always took great pride in helping others succeed and received overwhelming gratitude from the many whom he helped. Jeff volunteered on many boards including the Tokeneke Club, Masons Island Yacht Club, both Darien and Stonington Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Groton Sportsman's Club. He was an avid environmentalist, sailor, scuba diver, arborist, horticulturalist, naturalist, and always started his day before sunrise to exercise.
He was a true family man with great love for his wife of 54 years, Waller; his children, Robert Barney Walker II (Lindsay) and Blair Walker Tarara (Tanino); and five adoring grandchildren: Vince, Ellie, Charlie, Robert and Finley.
His compassion for others radiated from every cell of his being. He will be remembered lovingly for his extraordinary goodness, discipline and creativity.
Services will be held in 2024. Mystic Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Please check back in January for details. www.mysticfuneralhome.com. Jeff was a unique and outstanding friend. His enthusiasm and support for others was a great attribute that touched all that knew him. He inspired all to be better through his out standing character vision and example. You always left wanting to please. He gave opportunity to so many and took personal interest and care
In building and growing their self esteem. I met Jeff at Colgate Palmolive in developing standards for corporate furniture, we quickly became friends, fishing together, telling great stories of boating and his love of nature,
Cutting roses, sailing, and his dedication to his work and his family. He was a stellar and unique person.
He was the most creative and visionary person always finding solutions to things that needed answers. There was never a loss for ideas or the search for solutions. I cared for him Always.
A visionary and upstanding human being - at the same time a sensitive, vulnerable, emotional and giving human being.
His enthusiasm for life and his energy will never leave me and never leave those who cherished his spirit.
My love to Waller and the children of the great Jeff Walker. We have all been touched.

I am sorry to hear the news on the passing of Jeff. Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss.
I had the pleasure to call Jeff a colleague and friend for over 25 years from our Colgate days. I just became aware of his passing. While he was one of the toughest guys that I knew he was also one of the most altruistic people that I´ve come to know. He was a real special person who always called to wish me a happy birthday.
My prayers and thoughts are with the entire family during this difficult time.

I'm very sorry to hear of Jeff passing. He was such a good guy and a true gentleman. I was lucky to enjoy lots of conversations with him over the years, about business, life, family, etc., and will miss them. Working with him was always a pleasure. Wishing Waller, Barney, and the rest of Walker family comfort, peace, and happy memories.

I knew Jeff for the ma y years we worked together at Colgate and he helped me as I was challenged to produce multiple events while we were both there. Always a character but also backed everyone up. Sorry for your loss. He was a large personality not easily forgotten.

I was really sadden to hear about Jeff death. I used to cut his hair. He became a good friend.

Jeff was one of the most admirable individuals I have ever known. His love for his wife, children and grandchildren, who called him Tug, was a joy to behold.
