Jordan "Jordy" Spiegel

Fort Pierce, Fla. - Jordan "Jordy" Spiegel of Fort Pierce, Fla., passed away peacefully Jan. 14, 2024, at age 94, with his wife Elizabeth at his side. Jordan was born Dec. 16, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He is predeceased by his father Max and his mother Betty; his brothers, Irving and Alan; and his stepsons, Michael Shashaty and Timothy Shashaty. In addition to his wife, Elizabeth, he is survived by his children, Laura, Richard and Scott Spiegel; and his loving stepchildren, Daniel (Shashaty) and Helen (Kizer); and grandchildren: Caitlin (Kizer), Megan (Kizer) and Mark (Kizer), Cassandra (Shashaty), Arielle (Shashaty), Amber (Shashaty), Michael (Shashaty) and Shane (Shashaty) and Todd (Spiegel). He is also survived by his sister-in-law Barbara Kaplowe and her family.

Jordy was always a Brooklynite at heart for all his days, but enjoyed his time in Bloomfield, Milford, New London, Sunrise, Fla., Jacksonville, Fla., and Fort Pierce, Fla. His careers were many and diverse in retail, but his two favorite work adventures were serving as a VP for HB Davis in Hartford, and then in later years, as the owner and founder of Pond Point Variety in Milford. He loved meeting people, solving problems and laughing heartily. His friends were "fewer but forever." He adored sunny weather and loved the respite Florida provided after his retirement and his summers in New London on the "Pequot Porch." He and his wife Elizabeth were an unbeatable team, who loved life, travelled often, and kept each other laughing each day. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a generous and kind man, who taught us all how to live in the moment.

In keeping with Jordy's wishes, no memorial is planned. He hoped that all who knew and loved him would know peace and happiness each day. Condolences consisting of great memories of him may be sent to his wife Elizabeth Spiegel, 4072 Dunraven Lane, Jacksonville, Florida 32223.
