Joseph Fouquette Obituary

Lyme - Joseph Gerald Fouquette, 50, of Lyme, passed away June 10, 2018, after a long struggle with medullary thyroid cancer. Joe was the middle child of Gerald (Joe) and Sandra Fouquette born on April 2, 1968, at St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn.

While attending Foley High in Foley, Minn., Joe had an outstanding wrestling career earning many awards and breaking school records. He graduated in 1986. He went on to NDSU for a short time before going into the construction industry. He worked for a number of years for Abhe Svoboda Inc. This company provided Joe the opportunity to live and work in Hawaii for seven years. He also worked in Connecticut, Maine, Washington State, Michigan and several other states. While in Maine, he met Jennifer Brown and her son David. He proposed to Jennifer (who he would fondly call "Peaches") at the top of the World Trade Center. They later married on a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Caribbean on Sept. 25, 2000. On Jan. 14, 2002, Leah Nicole made their family complete. Joe enjoyed watching David and Leah play lacrosse and a variety of other sports they participated in.

Joe was an avid football fan; his favorite team was the Cowboys. Joe also LOVED boating with his huge circle of friends and the fishing tournaments he and his friends participated in. Joe's outgoing personality and love of life impacted many people. Anyone who knew him always has a story to tell. Words will never describe how much Joe will be missed by his huge circle of friends and his family.

He is survived by his wife Jennifer, daughter Leah, son David, and his grandmother Maggie Fouquette of Foley, Minn. His father Gerald (Joe) and mother Sandra of Foley, Minn., sister Lisa (George) Fouquette of Little Falls, Minn., nieces Amanda (Paul) Strang of Foley, Minn. Great-nephews Ethan and Alex. Brittany Funt (Cliffton) of Pierz, Minn., great-nephew Landon and great-niece Melanie, nephew Cody Keeler of Foley, Minn., and great-nephew Jordan, brother Chad (Audrey) Fouquette of Sartell, Minn., and nephew Devin, nieces Tara (Nick) Kipka of Foley, Minn., Nicole Brenny and nephew William (Marissa) Brenny of Colorado, neice Alyssa (Dillion) Brenny of Foley, Minn., mother-in-law Ellie Brown, brother-in-law David Brown and niece Kendra Brown, all of Manchester, Mass. He also has many aunts and uncles and cousins that will miss him. His grandfathers Louis Fouquette of Foley, Minn., and Russell Kreitlow of Williams, Iowa, grandmothers Alpha Kreitlow of Dows, Iowa, and Hazel Kreitlow of Williams, Iowa, and father-in-law David S. Brown of Maine, preceded him in death.

A celebration of Joe's life will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, at the Westbrook Elks Club, Seaside Ave., in Westbrook.

I feel terrible that I didnt know about this. I met Joe and several other great people on the first construction job I was ever on; working for Abhe&Svoboda on the Arigoni bridge in Portland CT. I was a local car painter that they gave an opportunity to and taught me how to paint bridges. Joe took me on to his crew painting overpass bridges for the winter. Great guy, high energy, hard worker, just fun to be around! I truly wish his family the best and wish I had known so that I could have paid my respects.
