Niantic - K. Elaine "Kurt" Bacchiocchi, 83, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, at St. Francis Reflection Hospice. Elaine was born IN Connecticut in 1940 and grew up between Rhode Island and Connecticut.
She graduated in 1958, where she met Richard Bacchiocchi. They were married in 1960, and honeymooned in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. They loved the sun and nightlife so much, they decided to stay an extra two weeks. Once returning to Connecticut, Elaine and Richard started their life building a new home and gave birth to a daughter, Gina, and son, Michael.
Elaine became a realtor in 1972, and being a bit of rebel, she bought a motorcycle with her first commission check. In 1973, an opportunity presented itself for Richard and Elaine to purchase a business in Melbourne, Fla., (East Coast Welding). They agreed to buy in April, and were moved and settled in Indian Harbor Beach, July 4, 1973. Richard and Elaine owned the business for over 30 years, along with concrete precast business, Basil Precast. Elaine enjoyed swimming and started roller blading at 59 years old.
After Richard's passing in 2007, Elaine's enjoyed visiting with Gina and Michael, visiting frequently. Elaine began to meet many new friends at Pine Creek, by playing cards and participating in water aerobics. She was always ready to get in the car and drive friends to dinner, theater, shopping adventures, and to the casino. The years passed by quickly. Elaine was in the final years of limited travel and many trips to the hospital. Her new world revolved around her iPad, where she certainly mastered ordering online.
On her terms, Elaine decided to stop dialysis and live her final days at St. Francis hospice. Gina and Michael were by her side. The nurses and staff are to be commended for compassionate and kind care.
Elaine was predeceased by her husband Richard; her parents, Fred and Alice Lovine; her brother Fred and Lauren Lovine; and son-in-law Bruce Noe; and brother-in-law Philip "Buz" Watrous. Elaine is survived by her daughter Gina (Lawrence) Bacchiocchi-Plati; and son Michael Bacchiocchi; her sister Billie Watrous; and many nieces and nephews.
