Kenneth W. "Ken" Richards Sr.

Old Mystic - Kenneth W Richards Sr. of Old Mystic, passed away peacefully at home March 22, 2023. Kenneth was born Nov. 22, 1942, in Meriden, to Ralph and Rose Richards.

He moved to Mystic with his family in 1950, where he attended Stonington schools. Ken retired from General Dynamics Electric Boat with 36 years of service. Ken and his wife Amy resided in Old Mystic, for 61 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Kenneth W. Richards Jr. and wife Geraldine of Old Mystic; daughter Lisa Stearns and husband Christopher of Old Mystic; five grandchildren: Kenneth W. Richards III and Husband Matthew R. Baird, Keith Richards and wife Gabrielle, Jacqueline Lagasse and husband Paul, Stephanie Stearns and fiancé Troy Powell and Derek Stearns and wife Karley. Kenneth also leaves six great-grandchildren: Jayden Baird Richards; Gavin, Giuliana and Grady Lagasse, Ava Richards, and Elizabeth Stearns. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Rose Richards; six siblings: Fred Richards, Althea Murch, Patricia Pease, Laurice Richards, Arthur Richards and Florence Lawrence. Ken was also predeceased by granddaughter Julie Ann Richards in 1985.

There will be a memorial gathering from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at the Mystic Hilton. There will be no funeral service. The Dinoto Funeral Home is assisting the family.
