Kenneth Ralph "Ken" Weeks

New London - Kenneth Ralph "Ken" Weeks, 82, of New London, passed away Feb. 24, 2023, after a brief illness surrounded in comfort with his family. Ken was born Jan. 15, 1941, to Ralph and Helen Weeks in San Francisco, Calif.

He was raised in San Mateo, Calif. After graduating from Serra High School, Ken went on to graduate from the University of San Francisco with a BA in English. He received an MA in Theology from Marquette University and a DLS from UC Berkeley. Ken began his career as a college professor with teaching appointments in Theology at Mundelein Women's College (Loyola Chicago), University of San Francisco, and Santa Clara University. After leaving teaching, he began his library career at Connecticut College. Ken relocated his family back to the San Francisco Bay Area and transitioned to a management role at the University of California San Francisco Medical Library.

Ken elected an early retirement and relocated to New London, to be close to his partner Marian Shilstone. He enjoyed a succession of beloved spaniels, researching genealogy, following baseball and his favorite cigars. He worked for a number of years at Bank Square Books in Mystic, where he got to enjoy sharing his love of books with the customers.

Ken was predeceased by his father and mother, Ralph and Helen Weeks. He is survived by his partner Marian Shilstone; his children, Molly Lemelin (Weeks), son-in-law Russ Lemelin, John Weeks, daughter-in-law Donna Weeks; his granddaughters, Kendall Rogers and Ella Weeks; and his sister Marilyn Weeks.

Ken's ashes will be interred in the family plot at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery; and he will be forever remembered at his beloved Paige Meadows in Lake Tahoe, Calif.
