Kevin Francis Carroll

Fishers Island - With deep sadness and broken hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Kevin Francis Carroll, age 63, Dec. 22, 2025, on Fishers Island, N.Y.

Born in Baltimore, Md., Kevin was the son of the late Dr. Gerald Joseph Carroll and Dorothy Creel Carroll. He graduated from Boys' Latin School and attended Towson University in Baltimore.

Having grown up in Baltimore, he spent many happy summers on Fishers Island as a child and adult before making it his permanent home around 2014. He surrounded himself with friends and family, living life with passion, humor and a knack for telling stories. Kevin had many great passions. He gravitated toward the lacrosse field and spent many seasons playing the sport and discussing it with everyone around him. Kevin also had a deep love of language that he shared with his brothers, Greg and Gerry. And most notably, he was also a devoted outdoorsman who shared his love of nature with those around him.

An accomplished sailor, Kevin was a standout competitor in the International One Design (IOD) class and longtime member of the Fishers Island Yacht Club IOD fleet. Racing aboard Jester, Kevin and the team earned a World Championship title in 2016 and qualified again in 2025 in pursuit of the boat's fifth. As his teammates often said, "Kevin brought intensity to the racecourse and laughter to the club porch afterward."

Kevin's presence – his infectious smile, booming laugh, and unmistakable warmth – was a gift to all who knew him. A proud and devoted father and grandfather, Kevin loved his girls fiercely. Kevin's greatest joy was his family, many of whom he loved and lost far too soon.

Kevin was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Gerald Joseph Carroll and John Gregory Carroll; and his sister Maura Eileen Doucette. He is survived by his former wife, Ann Dyson Carroll; his daughters, Katharine Carroll Leonard (MJ) and Lillian Carrington Carroll; his beloved granddaughters. Lyla and Laney; and his treasured red golden island dog, Bodi.

Though his time with us feels heartbreakingly brief, the impact Kevin made will live on in the countless lives he touched. "Kevin, sail on and fly free. You will be deeply missed and forever loved."

Fishers Island send off at 3:30 p.m. the Race. Saturday, Jan. 3, with a reception to follow at the Legion. Baltimore service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Church of the Redeemer.
