PIQUA — Kipton D. Marcum, 61, of Piqua, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at 3,21 p.m. at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. He was born April 1, 1953, in Dayton, to the late Rev. Chester Marcum and Bernetta (Ogden) Marcum of Piqua. On Dec. 23, 1978, in Piqua, he married Darlene Cantrell. She survives.
Kipton is also survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph Marcum, Piqua, and Jonathan and Rachel Marcum, Culpepper, Va.; one daughter, Jennifer Marcum, Piqua; one sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Arland Benningfield, Louisville, Ky.; and one granddaughter, Chloe Marcum, Piqua. He was preceded in death by one sister, Sherri Scott.
Kipton graduated from Meadowdale High School in 1971. He then went on to graduate from Cincinnati Baptist Bible Institute in 1973, and then received a teacher's diploma from Kentucky Mountains Baptist College in 1976.
Kipton was a member of Grace Baptist in Troy for more than 20 years. He was very active in Awana, Summer Safari, a greeter, and played softball, In 1971, he received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Dayton Printing Industry Association. He worked for Fram in Greenville, for 23 years.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, Piqua, with Pastor Shawn Hess officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City. Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
