Larry Zabel Obituary
He is survived by his daughter Debbie (Zabel) Hughes, and his grandchildren Jeffrey and Kristen. Larry was predeceased by his daughter Susan Zabel.
He was the president and owner of S.M.S. Textile Mills in Allentown, Pa., and Norwich Textiles in Norwich.
After graduating from Lane Tech High School in Chicago, Ill., Larry became a U.S. Navy fighter pilot. He was a member of the U.S. Naval Institute, the Tailhook Association, and the U.S.S. Philippine Sea Association, and a life member of the New York Athletic Club, Westerly Yacht Club and American Legion Post 0016.
Sincere gratitude is extended to the dedicated staff of Avalon convalescent center.
Funeral and burial services will be private. Friends and family are welcome to attend a celebration of Larry's life from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, at StoneRidge retirement community, 186 Jerry Browne Road, Mystic.
Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Debbie - I just received a message from Legacy about my father and found that your father had passed in 2018 and your mother before that. I was in contact with them via Xmas card each year until a few years ago when their card was returned to me.
Your parents sent me a Xmas card every year. Your parents were not only beautiful; but, the nicest people ever. I'm sorry for your losses even though it is late. Hope you are good. Renee Carnot
