Linda Bugg

1953 - 2024

Westbrook - Linda Bugg, age 70, a long-time resident of Westbrook, passed away after fighting vigorously against various health ailments. She is survived by daughter Lindsey Cruz of Madison; and Nolan Bugg of Ansonia; son-in-law Nicolas Cruz; and daughter-in-law Cleonice Samara Ferraz Bugg; her grandchildren: Zachary and Zoey Cruz, and Nikkho, Christopher, and Aiden Bugg. She was predeceased by her husband Christopher Bugg. Linda was born July 30, 1953, in Omaha, Neb., to Margaret Marshall and Robert Lawson and had one sibling Kathy Heitzinger; brother-in-law Paul Heitzinger; nephews, Chris and Terry Heitzinger; and nieces, Jennifer Schibonski and Melissa Polencheck.

Most of her early life was spent living in Minnesota.

Linda had many work pursuits throughout her life that, along with her husband Christopher, brought many adventure and experiences. She worked as a cost accountant for Starkist Tuna which saw her live and work in American Samoa for a period of time. She enjoyed taking part in snorkeling while there and was an avid collector of underwater corals and shells, while diving underneath the water. Various changes in jobs and sceneries eventually saw Linda and family move from California, to New Jersey, and eventually to Westbrook, where she had resided since 1999. She loved her neighborhood and the close knit community and relationships she had built with her neighbors and family. She was a dedicated gardener and even even completed UConn's master gardener program which fed into her love of animals as she loved birds and birdwatching, as well. Her later years saw her take on other professions including time spent as a tour guide in Cape Cod/Boston and eventually as an account manager for Hallmark Cards where she was responsible for managing inventory and setting up seasonal displays across Hallmark's client stores.

She will be remembered for kindness and sacrifice for others. She thought of others always before herself when anyone was in need of help.

Services will be held for Linda at 11 a.m. Aug. 2, at the Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Society, Madison.
