Linda Milefski Obituary

Montville - Linda Milefski, 57, of Uncasville, lost her battle with cancer on Monday, May 1, 2017, at The William W. Backus Hospital.

Linda was born in Cambridge, Mass. to Roger and Jean (Melanson) Wilson Sr. Her family moved to Southington and settled in East Haddam, where Linda graduated from the Vocational Agriculture program at Nathan Hale-Ray High School where she became a member of the Future Farmers of America.

Linda always loved to garden, especially flowers, shrubs and trees. She would go on to become a master gardner. Her first employment was at the former Barker's Dept. Store in the Garden Dept. and her love of flora and fauna expanded. She would move on to work at Salem Country Gardens and then become the head gardner for Mitchell College in New London. She loved her work.

On Sept. 21, 1985, Linda and her soulmate, Michael Milefski, were married at Salem Congregational Church. This shifted Linda's gardening focus to that of being a mom raising their two children. Linda returned to the workplace but this time at Mohegan Elementary School working with children with special needs and eventually moving to work for the State of Connecticut Dept. of Developmental Services until her illness forced her to retire.

She leaves behind her loving parents; her husband; children, LaKota and Brooke Milefski; a brother, Roger Wilson II and his wife, Cynthia; sister, Rosemarie Bamber and partner, James Rogers; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and a long list of friends, all of whom she held dear to her.

Special thanks to Penny Cherry who was always supportive and caring of Linda during her treatments and doctor's visits.

Calling hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at the Montville Funeral Home of Church & Allen, 53 Norwich-New London Tnpk., Uncasville. Memorial services will commence at 6 p.m. Burial is private at the convenience of the family.

Donations in Linda's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.

We are so sorry to hear of Linda's passing. Linda had a smile that could light up a room and her hugs were awesome. May your memories and support of family and friends bring you comfort in the days ahead.
I give you this one thought to keep
I am with you still----I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awake in the morning hush
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not think of me as gone.....
I am with you still---in each new dawn

Linda may you rest in peace.
