She was born in Lewiston, Maine, on Dec. 30, 1924, the daughter of Philip and Albertine (Ouillette) Gendron.
Her husband, Norman Vanasse, passed away on May 12, 1970. She married Bernard Fletcher, who passed away Dec. 17, 2005.
Loretta was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Groton. She was a member of the Rosary Society, the Daughters of Isabella, and had served on the Sacred Heart School Guild.
She is survived by two sons, David N. Vanasse and his wife, Donna, of Mystic and Norman A. Vanasse Jr., and his wife, Beth Ann, of Stonington; a daughter, Debra Washburn and her husband, Russell, of Westerly; a brother, Richard Gendron of New Hampshire; a sister, Muriel LePage of New Jersey; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a sister, Georgette Pierce.
The funeral will assemble at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday at Byles-Groton Memorial Home and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church at 2 p.m. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New London. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday.
