Lucia Fasolino "Lucy" Montorsi

1921 - 2016

Uncasville - Lucia "Lucy" Fasolino Montorsi, 95, of 41 Spring Garden Ave., Norwich, passed away peacefully on Sept. 30, 2016, at Orchard Grove Specialty Care Center in Uncasville.

Born in San Giovanni Province, Frisione, Italy on March 14, 1921, she was the daughter of Maria Dolce and Domenico Fasolino.

She was united in marriage to Cleto Montorsi, who predeceased her, at Saint Paul's Basilica in Rome, Italy. After mass she had an audience with Pope John Pius XII at Saint Peter's.

She is survived by her two children, her son, Arturo Montorsi and his wife, Carol; and her daughter, Linda LaLima; her grandchildren, Vanessa and Tami, Nicholas, Anthony and Kristin; and her sister, Stella and husband, Robert Smigiel. She was predeceased by her brothers, Americo (Chic) and Dominic; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Fasolino. She leaves behind Angelo and Romana Montorsi of Italy; many nieces and nephews here in the U. S. and in Rome; and special friends who were like sisters, cousins Rita Notorantonio and Beatrice Colonni, Faye Pillari, Matilda Tanzi and Olga Cirillo.

She worked 72 years out of her 95 years. She started at Central Shoe and Werman Shoe. She retired from John Meyers of Norwich and worked 20 years at the Norwich Free Academy Cafeteria.

Lucy's ten course meals, homemade raviolis and tortellini will always be missed.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 181 Elizabeth Street, Norwich. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Woyasz and Son Funeral Service is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The New Hospice House, Dunham Street, Norwich.

Lucy's family, especially son Art, would like to thank the staff at Orchard Grove for their wonderful care and kindness.
