Lucille "Sadie" Riley

1917 - 2016

Waterford - Lucille "Sadie" (Littlefield) Riley, 98, of Waterford, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2016, after a short illness while a resident of Bayview Health Care in Waterford.

Born Sept. 19, 1917, in New London, Lucille was married to Charles Edward Riley Jr., on Jan. 19, 1942. Lucille was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to knit, Pleasure Beach, and spending time with her family. She will be fondly remembered for all the summers at Grandma Riley's and the wonderful warm days on Pleasure Beach, as well as the sometimes endless gallivanting around Waterford, as she loved to be on the go.

Lucille was predeceased by her husband; sisters, Marion Small and Mary Strutt; brother, Edward Littlefield; sons-in-law, Allen Silva and John Menghi; daughter-in-law, Tamara Riley; granddaughter, Dawn Hawthorne; and great-grandson, Caleb Riley.

Lucille is survived by four daughters, Carolyn Fuller, Shelia Silva, Karen Gauvine and her husband, James, and Marsha Menghi and her companion, Tom Harman. Also, she is survived by her two sons, Carl Fuller and his wife, Kathy, and Charles E. Riley III and his companion, Nancy Kelly; as well as 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lucille's amazing life from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2016, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Waterford with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in New London.

Mother, Grandma, and Aunt, you will be missed more than you could ever imagine. We love you.
