Luke Hosking Obituary

East Lyme - Luke Andrew Hosking, 29, of East Lyme died after a brief illness complicated by an undiagnosed heart condition Dec. 17, 2020, while at home.

He was born in New Haven June 23, 1991, the son of Steven and Anne York Hosking with whom he made his home during this Corona pandemic. He was a graduate of Algonquin High School in Southborough, Mass., and received a bachelor's degree and two associates degrees from New England Institute of Technology. He was employed as a sound engineer for the Comix Club at Mohegan Sun. Luke had a love for videography and photography, and was involved in many local and regional award-winning amateur video productions with his team, Misfit Island Media. He hoped to one day start his own video production company.

Luke was also a quintessential New England sports fan, loving the Patriots and the Red Sox (okay, and the Bruins too).

Luke was keenly aware that life had its inequities, having experienced such first-hand. He learned fierce loyalty for his friends, and devotion for his brother. He was quiet and unassuming in his empathy and support for those in need, surprising many by his generosity.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother Aaron Hosking of Raleigh, N.C.; his maternal grandmother Blanche York of Las Vegas, Nev.; his paternal grandparents, Hank and Janice Hosking of Zephier Hills, Fla.

The Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements which, because of COVID-19 restrictions, are private. Condolences may be shared on Luke's memorial page at www.neilanfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Marfan Foundation at www.marfan.org.

Many blessings for peace and comfort in the loss of dear Luke. I was his teacher at Algonquin and knew him to be kind and sweet.

Before his father was ordained to the priesthood, the family first belonged to Christ the Savior Orthodox Church in Southbury Ct. I remember Luke well, his energetic and and creative personality. He was a truly gifted individual. Luke was born the same year my wife and I were married and he fell asleep in the Lord the day after my wife reposed. And now they are gloriously together with all the saints in the bosom of Jesus for eternity. What an amazing blessing for Luke but of great anguish and sorrow for his beloved parents Fr Luke and Mat Anne. Memory Eternal Luke - we will see you on the other side!

Dear Anne, I am so very sorry for the tragic passing of your beautiful boy. Words cannot express my sadness for your inconceivable and profound loss. You and your family are in my heart and in my thoughts, and please know that all your family, friends, and coworkers are surely holding you in theirs.
Always, Rose Caira (VNA)
