Plainfield - Maria Terese Daigle, 63, passed away Friday, June 9, 2023, at home with her husband Rick by her side, after a courageous nine-month battle with lung cancer. She was born July 28, 1959, daughter of the late Charles P. Danna Sr. and Ellen (Edwards) Danna. Maria was born in Nashua, N.H., moving to Plainfield (Moosup), at the age of nine, living in Plainfield up until her passing.
Maria attended All Hallows School and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1977. Many of her closest friendships were made in her school years and still remain some of her closest friends to this day. Maria graduated from the Computer Processing Institute in 1981. This led to her life-long career in the IT field. Maria started her 30-year career in the IT department at Backus Hospital (Hartford Hospital) in August of 1993, and continuing until her passing.
Maria was one of the most compassionate, loving, incredible people to walk this earth. For those of us who had the privilege to know her and love her, we know words cannot begin to describe what a wonderful, loving, caring woman she was.
Maria's happy place was Aruba, traveling every year to enjoy the sun and sand with her husband Rick and many friends and family she introduced to this one happy island. One of her favorite passions was singing. Wherever there was music, her voice was soon to follow. Maria loved being with her family and friends. She loved little children, especially all her nieces and nephew, who affectionately call her auntie to this day. Halloween and Christmas were two of her favorite times of the year. She could not wait for all of the little ones in costumes to knock on her door so she could hand out special treats and candy. Christmas craft weekend was her most favorite. Many of nieces and friends' children have many of their fondest memories of those weekends. Whether at the beach, pool party with friends, or family get togethers, she was always one of the brightest stars to shine. Her spirit will be surely missed.
Maria is survived by her loving, devoted husband, Rick of 37 years. She is also survived by 11 brothers and sisters: Charlotte P. Kelly of Plainfield, Veronica M. Danna of Bolton, Charles P. Danna Jr. (Diane) of Bolton, Douglas "Mike" Danna (Cam) of Manchester, Leslie A. Nielsen (Boyd) of Brooklyn, Stephan J. Danna (Marcia) of Brooklyn, Richard A. Danna (Carol) of Killingly, William J. Danna of Plainfield, Laurel E. Briene (Don) of Killingly, Cori E. Mahoney (Mike) of Canterbury, Kristen I. Langlois (Glen) of Plainfield; and a large extended family and closest, dear friends.
Her husband Rick would like to acknowledge and thank all who helped and care for Maria in these past nine months. All of the staff and her extended family at Backus Hospital, especially Dr. Vaz, her extended family on A2, whom she loved dearly. Dr. Nick, and all the staff at Eastern Connecticut Hematology and Oncology, and Dr. Angelo De Dios and staff at Pulmonary Physicians of Norwich. Special thanks to many caretakers at Hartford Healthcare at Home, who took such great care of her during her illness. She loved you all.
"Maria, your many friends and family will miss your infectious laugh and smile."
