After a brief illness she peacefully joined all the company of Heaven.
Born Aug. 15, 1952, in New London, to Stacia and Edmund Wojtkiewicz of Groton, Marianne grew up in a loving family. Her youngest years were shared with her loving maternal grandparents, Honorata and John Wieczorek. Her greatest love outside of her family were animals. All kinds! She always had pet cats and dogs in her home, but horses were her greatest love.
After graduating from Robert E. Fitch Senior High School in 1970, she attended Mohegan Community College, in New London. Her beauty and magnetism turned many a head.
In 1974 she began working in submarine building for General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division, in Groton. Her dependable skills earned her promotions with high level responsibilities. She was voted number one nuclear and non-nuclear Division 688 Los Angeles class submarine secretary. After seventeen happy years with Electric Boat, she left to expand her own horse farm.
She married Donald Congdon in 1974 where they started their farm in Oakdale. She boarded and bred American Saddlebreds and trained many students. She was a dedicated English style rider and competed in many shows and Equestrian sports. In 1993 she married Mark Makoid, who shared her care for various farm animals among colts, mares, and geldings.
In 2018 Marianne moved to a beautifully landscaped horse farm in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. where she settled into retirement. She had never been happier.
She is survived by her brother's wife Barbara (Sears); her nephews, Bruce and wife Margaret Cole of Osterville, Mass. and Edmund Cole of Osterville, Mass.; niece Victoria and husband David Spindler of Arlington, Va.; nephew John and wife Sarah Wojtkiewicz of Hawthorne, Calif.
