Mark Anton Obituary

New London – Mark Anton, 67, of New London, entered eternal life Feb. 22, 2025.
He was born Aug. 18, 1957, in New London, son of the late Daniel Sr. and Dolores (Nieto) Anton. He is survived by his children: Marcus Anton, Giana Anton Caldwell and her husband Zach, Angela Anton-McGugan and her husband Sean, Mariah Anton, Mark and Chris Anton of California; and four siblings: Daniel Anton Jr. of Old Lyme, Laura Anton of Uncasville, Andrew Anton of Salem, Gina Anton of New London; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his younger brother and best friend, Bruce Anton.

Mark grew up in Fort Trumbull, New London where he went to St. Joseph's School and was an Alter Boy. Fort Trumbull was where he spent most of his time enjoying the ocean, boating, fishing, crabbing, clamming and spending many summers on "Anton Island" building forts with his brothers and friends. Mark was an avid and talented self-taught mechanic. There was not a single motor vehicle, diesel engine, or Harley Davidson that he could not pull apart and put back together better than it was originally built. He enjoyed reading Harley Davidson books and learning each specific detail about every year make and model of Harley's. One of his most prized possessions was his customized Harley.

When someone says the phrase "jack of all trades," Mark instinctively comes to mind. He MASTERED EVERY SINGLE ONE of those trades. Whether it was motor vehicles, Harley's, boats, building houses, roofing, construction work - there was not a single trade that Mark could not do, and he did it with intense passion and intellect. He loved to tell his daughters, always with a smile, "It's a dirty job but someone's gotta do it!" His knowledge and life skills to build and fix anything and everything was unmatched by anyone.

He moved to Pittsburgh, Pa. with the Roofer's Union in 2000, and resided in Canonsburg, Pa., where he established a life filled with friends that became family to him. Mark loved dogs and will also be missed by his dogs, Luke and Rocky, who went with him to every job site and ride that he possibly could take them to. Mark will always be remembered by his charming good looks, live-by-the-moment lifestyle, his outgoing personality and his ability to tell jokes, with his mischievous signature facial expression, that would have an entire room laughing.

His three daughters say, "We talk about you still, your love has never been forgotten, and YOU never will. We hold you close within our hearts, and there you will remain. To walk and guide us through our lives. Until we meet again."

A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 14, at Divine Mercy Parish St. John's, 22 Maple Avenue, Uncasville. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at Jordan Cemetery, 240 Boston Post Road, Waterford, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Elk's Lodge, located at 81 Washington Street, New London. There are no calling hours.
