I knew Mary only for the last few years, but she became a great friend who delighted me with her sense of humor in spite of declining health and overwhelmed me with her heart of gold. She was down to earth, in the best sense of that term--the likes of which we no longer witness--and responded to others' problems as if she had none of her own. She will be greatly missed, and I am so very sorry that I will no longer have the opportunity of sharing a good laugh with her. Our only consolation is that she is, finally, freed from suffering, and I extend my condolences to her family and friends.
I especially want to acknowledge publicly and thank Mark, her nephew, and Kathie for the kindness, help, and care they extended to Mary for so many years, up to and including her final hours.
Rest in peace, dear Mary.
