Maryanne Fecher Obituary

Uncasville - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maryanne Plansky Fecher, Oct. 5, 2024, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who left us peacefully surrounded by her family. Born and raised in the Dorchester section of Boston, she was the cherished daughter of Bernard L. Plansky and Catherine M. O'Sullivan and the devoted sister of Bernard Plansky. Maryanne was a beacon of intelligence and determination, graduating at the top of her class in college and embarking on a remarkable career as a scientist, where she contributed to groundbreaking developments in rocket technology.

In her journey through life, Maryanne found her soulmate, Michael P. Fecher, of Baldwin, Long Island. They were united in marriage Oct. 28, 1967, and spent 49 beautiful years together until Michael's passing Jan. 18, 2017. Their bond was unbreakable, and together they created a loving home for their two sons, John M. Fecher and Joseph B. Fecher (wife JoAnne Giucastro). Maryanne's love extended to her grandchildren, Olivia and David Fecher, who brought her immeasurable joy. Maryanne and Michael were an extraordinary team, committed to raising their children with unwavering love and support. Through life's challenges, they stood side by side, embodying resilience and strength. Their love story inspired all who knew them, serving as a testament to the power of partnership and family.

Maryanne will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by her sons; grandchildren; sister-in-law Madeline Plansky; sister-in-law Patricia Fecher; life-long friend Maryanne Wilson; and her best friend and caregiver Debbie Young. She leaves behind a large, tight-knit extended family, including cousins, nieces, nephews and countless loved ones from the Plansky, Stasio, Debar, O'Sullivan, McFarland, Delvento, Albert, Giucastro families, and many more. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Stacy, Julie, and all the nurses and staff at the Center for Hospice Care for their compassionate support during Maryanne's final journey.

Calling hours will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 11 Jerome Road, Uncasville. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at St. John Church, 22 Maple Avenue, Uncasville. Burial will follow at Bozrah Rural Cemetery, Schwartz Road, Bozrah. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to: "HHC AH Center for Hospice Care," 227 Dunham Street, Norwich, Connecticut 06360.
