Michael Beard Obituary
Born Sept. 15, 1960, in Des Moines, Iowa, he was the son of the late Red and Carolyn (Corcorin) Beard. Mike moved to Stonington in 1965 and was a graduate of Stonington High School.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Dawn (Higgins) Beard; his children, Shay Beard and her partner Joe Curran, Shelley Russell and her husband Tim, Jamie Gregoire and his wife Samantha, and Christopher Gregoire. He was a cherished grandfather to Kayleigh, Seth, Jim, Riley, Lucy, Savannah, and Camden. Mike also leaves behind two brothers, Kevin Beard and his wife Carrie of Brewster, Mass., and Bob Beard and his wife Karen of Pawcatuck, Conn.
A man of many passions, Mike loved the outdoors, mountain bike riding on Sunday mornings with his friends. His sense of adventure and love for exploration were infectious and enduring. Mike especially treasured time with his family and was happiest surrounded by loved ones. He also shared a special bond with his loyal dog, Poe.
Mike will be remembered for his kindness, adventurous spirit, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

My sincere condolences to Dawn (who I chatted with occasionally when you worked at LBI) and Mike's brothers Kevin and Rob (childhood friends on Summit Street)... I have many fond memories of Mike and the good ol' days with the Beard family.

It is with heavy hearts that Jim and I send our most sincere condolences to Dawn, Weebles and All of Mike's family.
I grew up with Toad (as I've always known him) in Stonington. He was like another brother to me. Kind, funny, lovable and always a wonderful friend.
He will certainly be missed.
