Michael H. Koozmitch

Plainfield - Michael H. Koozmitch, 81, was taken home by the angels to his final resting place Tuesday, June 24, 2025. He was born in Norwich Aug. 21, 1943, to the late Michael and Mary Koozmitch.

After high school, Michael started his life-long career at Electric Boat in Groton in 1962, where he worked for 49 years until he retired. In 1964, he married the love of his life, Charlotte A. (Rex) Koozmitch. They built a solid and happy life together and loved spending time together, whether taking day trips or gardening or puttering at home.

Michael loved staying active, and running was a big part of his life. He participated in many competitive road races, including completing the Newport Marathon. Michael was a member of the American Polish Citizens Club where he enjoyed chatting with friends, sharing laughs, and having a beer or two.

Michael is also survived by his brother William Koozmitch of Preston; sisters, Nina Sawyer of Ashaway, R.I., and Maryanne Koozmitch of Norwich; along with several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 14, at the Griswold Funeral Home, 30 N. Main Street, Jewett City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, at St. Mary Church, 34 N. Main Street, Jewett City, immediately followed by burial at Pachaug Cemetery in Griswold.
