Born in Bombay, India, he was the son of the late Samsuddin and Ratan Kajiji. Mohammed, at the age of 66, decided to relocate his wife and son to Mystic so that he could be closer to his beloved daughters. Lately, his life was devoted to being a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
His love for humanity and the simple things in life was expressed in many ways from his love for gardening, especially of roses, to his love for travel which was his way to bring history to life. His other favorite pastime was to make sure he never missed a single UCONN women's basketball game. In his younger days he was an avid romantic of the silver screen and listener of western classical music.
To his family, he will be most remembered as a charismatic and genuine man who lived every day of his life true to his belief in the brotherhood of mankind and of equal fairness to all. He will be missed by his family and numerous friends across the continents. He was truly a man of the world.
Besides his wife, he leaves behind three daughters and one son. They are Dr. Shama Kajiji and her fiancé, Dr. Anton Fliri, of Stonington, Dr. Nina Kajiji and her husband, Dr. Gordon H. Dash Jr., of Providence R.I., Mona Kilcoyne and her husband, Kenneth Kilcoyne, of Mystic, and a son, Bashir Kajiji, of Mystic. His four grandchildren are Miriam Dash and Ian, Ryan, and Jason Kilcoyne.
His family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1, Mystic. A procession will follow to the Islamic Center of New London, 16 Fort St., Groton, for a funeral prayer at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Arc of New London County, Inc., 125 Sachem Street, Norwich, CT 06360 (http://www.thearcnlc.org ).
