Nancy Maxson Obituary

Groton - Nancy Fitch Maxson, 72, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side. Born Sept. 27, 1948, on Staten Island, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Fitch.

Nancy was part of a military family and moved around frequently. She graduated from Earl L. Vandermellon High School in 1966, then went on to Glen Cove School of Nursing where she completed her training as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She married the love of her life, Herbert E. Maxson, June 2, 1974. They enjoyed 46 years of traveling, camping, and sailing.

Nancy is survived by her husband Bert; sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Dennis Douvarjo; brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey and Maryann Fitch; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and older brother, Francis R. Fitch.

Due to the current pandemic, all services and burial will be private. The Dinoto Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Nancy always said, "I'm from New York and don't take any crap." She did it her way!
