Thomas Daniewicz Obituary

Oakdale - Thomas J. Daniewicz, 80, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully in March 2026. Born Dec. 19, 1945, in New Britain, he was the beloved son of the late Samuel and Helen Daniewicz.

Thomas shared a remarkable 56-year marriage with his loving wife, Anne Daniewicz (Hracyk). The two were united in marriage Sept. 6, 1969, at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, faith, and family.

A proud United States Navy veteran, Thomas served his country honorably aboard the USS Princeton as a medical assistant. His service during the Vietnam era earned him numerous commendations, including the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon.

Thomas was a devoted father to his three sons, Kenneth Daniewicz of Montville, Steven Daniewicz and his wife Lynn of Montville, and Kevin Daniewicz and his wife Maureen of Mt. Sinai, N.Y. He was a proud and loving grandfather to seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Hannah, Sadie, Abby, Paige, Brady, and Quinn, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.

He is also survived by his extended family, including his brother- and sister-in-law, Bill and Lorrie Hracyk of Montville, along with their children, Michael and Tracie; and John and Lorraine Hracyk of Stonington, along with their children, Brian and Melissa.

Thomas was deeply committed to his community. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus through Our Lady of the Lakes Church, most recently serving as treasurer. He gave generously of his time as a coach for the Montville American Little League and as a board member for the Montville Youth Football League. He also enjoyed camaraderie and competition as a member of the Cedar Ridge Golf League.

In his free time, Thomas embraced life with enthusiasm. He was a loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers and New York Yankees and never missed the excitement of the Army-Navy Game, which he proudly attended twice. He found joy in golfing, fishing, and participating in the StarCraft Camper Club. Above all, he was his children's and grandchildren's biggest supporter, rarely missing a game or event.

Tom cherished the lasting relationships he formed with the many loyal clients he had the privilege of serving through his many years of Tax work.

Thomas treasured time spent with his family, whether relaxing by the pool in the summer or traveling together. Family vacations created lasting memories in places such as the Outer Banks, Disney World, Cancun, Aruba, and the Cayman Islands. He also shared special travels with his wife to Greece, Italy, Spain, and Alaska.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 11 Jerome Road, Uncasville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, 752 Norwich-Salem Turnpike, Oakdale. Burial with full military honors will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, 184 Salem Turnpike, Norwich.

Thomas will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his service to his country, and the kindness and strength he shared with all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply.
