"Nick" was the beloved son of Darlene Tashea of Waterford and James Polites of Scranton, Pa.
He will be remembered for his deep and heartfelt discussions about life and God and for his incredible talent as a self-taught musician, specializing in guitar and piano. Nick was also known for his amazing artistic ability, both in drafting and drawing. He loved fishing, friends and family most.
Survivors include his beloved little brother, Matthew Tashea, and his step-father, Todd Tashea, both of Waterford; his aunt and uncle, Lenette and Eric Strong of New London; cousins who loved him dearly, Kevin and Katie DiMaggio and Kayla Strong, all of New London; and his dearly loved "Nana" of Groton; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and true friends.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at the Groton Bible Chapel, Toll Gate Road, Groton. All family, friends, and acquaintances are invited to attend. Nick's family also invites you to view and sign an online condolence book at Legacy.com.

Nick and I grew up together ever since we were 5 years old.I remember all of the things we used to do together, going down to the park in Bel Aire where we used to live. He tried to teach me how to play the gutiar,we used to listen to music, and I would always admire all of the drawings that he used to do, it was an unbelievable talent. And as all kids do we used to get in trouble together for not listening to our parents, and not coming home when the street lights would come on.I even still have the scar over my left eye when Nick and i thought it would be a good idea to throw sticks into the trees out front and watch the hellicopters come down. Unfortunally the stick also came right down into my eye.Lol. I learned my lesson the hard way.Darlene, you were like another mother to me, and a really great role model, and friend.Todd I also remember you but unfortuantlly we didnt have the time to get to know each other that well, I wish we had the time to do so.I want to say that I am schocked and very upset to hear this happened, I just lost my childhood bestfriend.I had never heard from Nick again when he moved away from me, but I had always wondered how he was, and what was he doing.I am so sorry that this tragity had to happen to someone with such a big heart and so many self tought talents, and a really good friend.I know we all move on to a better place and I know that he is surrounded with people that love him as much as i did, and we all do.Rest in peace my friend, and God bless you and your family, and God help overcome the pain, hurt, and loss of Nick, someone we all truly loved.I love you Nicky, and you will always be in my heartand prayers. Love always, Cathy.
