Niantic - Norman D. "Norm" Davis passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021, at Crescent Point Assisted Living of Niantic. Born March 14, 1928, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Alberta (Wright) Davis in 2020.
Norman was one of the "Bulkeley Boys" who graduated from Bulkeley High School in New London in 1947. An excellent athlete, Norman enjoyed playing basketball and intramural sports. He also played the saxophone and clarinet and was in the school band for four years. He dreamed of becoming a professional musician. In 1950, Norman received a degree from Mitchell College where he met Alberta Wright, the love of his life. They married in October 1950. At that time, Norman was stationed in Massachusetts, serving for four years as a corpsman in the United States Army.
Norman and Alberta later moved to Niantic, and spent almost 70 wonderful years together navigating the world as a team. Always devoted to each other, they became entrepreneurs. He was the captain and she was his North Star or perhaps it was the other way around. Over the years, Norman did play music in some local bands, but he and Alberta also owned a number of businesses in the New London/Niantic area. You may have met them at their ice cream stand in the summer months or perhaps purchased a Christmas tree from them at the same stand, during the Yuletide season. Maybe you washed clothes at their laundromat or bought a home through his real estate agency, Norm Davis Real Estate. For over 50 years, Norman was a Brainard Lodge Mason. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Palm Beach, Fla. In addition, Norman was a former member and past president of the Niantic Lions Club.
Norman and Alberta worked hard while enjoying all that the Shoreline had to offer. They spent their leisure time golfing, boating, dancing at Lighthouse Inn, listening to their favorite bands at local restaurants, walking on the boardwalk, wintering in Florida, visiting Disney World and, most of all, socializing with their many lifelong friends.
On behalf of the Davis family, we would like to thank all the people who contributed so much to their life and to Crescent Point Assistant Living staff for making their stay as comfortable as possible.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Jordan Cemetery, Boston Post Road, Waterford. There are no calling hours. Please visit
