Paul Bogue Obituary

Palm Bay, Fla. - Paul E. Bogue Jr., 73, of Palm Bay, Fla., passed away Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021, at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Florida. Paul was born in New London, April 1, 1948. He is the son of the late Paul E. Bogue Sr. and survived by Dorothy (Strout) Bogue, who resides in Groton. He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline (Meadows) Bogue for 14 years.

Paul is also survived by his two children from a previous marriage, Sarah Kanturek of Alton, Ill. and Timothy Bogue of Groton. Paul will be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Justin, Reese, Alexander, Marley, Elias, Leona and Coen; as well as his great-grandchildren, Desmond and Cecelia. Surviving siblings include his two brothers, John of Waterford and Gary of Gales Ferry; two sisters, Donna Cowan of North Stonington and Luana Keefe of Uncasville. He is also survived by stepsister Sandra Lee Caron; and predeceased by stepsister Paula Jean Cochan.

Paul graduated from Robert E. Fitch Senior High School and was a third generation steamfitter from LU 305 Plumbers & Steamfitters of Connecticut, until the merging of all the Connecticut locals to form Local Union 777 Plumbers & Pipefitters of Connecticut. Paul had more than 40 years working in the local before retiring.

Paul in his younger years played the drums and guitar in a band named Wind Jammers. He coached baseball for his children, enjoyed motorcycle rides, going to NASCAR races, clamming, camping and more. When he became a grandfather, Paul enjoyed spending time with each and every one of the grandchildren - going for ice cream, building bird houses, playing cards and watching them compete in baseball, soccer, karate and auto racing. He took them fishing, boating and crabbing as well.

Paul and his wife Jacqueline split their time between Connecticut and Florida where they enjoyed the warm sunshine, beaches, sunsets, cruises, sightseeing, fishing, golfing, socializing and special friendships they made.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, Aug. 25, at the Elm Grove Cemetery, Greenmanville Avenue, Mystic. Visiting hours will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames Street, Groton. The last Job I had before retirement was working with Paul at the Foxwood water treatment, I enjoyed working with him as much as I did years before working with Paul Senior, two of the nicest men that I ever worked with. I was so sorry to read of Paul's passing and wanted his family to know how sorry I was. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.
