Paul Morosky Obituary

Groton Long Point - On April 3, 2025, after a multiyear struggle with MDS, Paul Allen Morosky left this life "to sleep with his God and the angels." He was born March 22, 1944, in Norwich, the first of five children of Captain Paul Morosky (USCG) and Catherine Mitchell Morosky. His siblings included Carol C. Morosky Belli, Michael F. Morosky, Frank N. Morosky and Tanya M. Morosky Noonan; as well as "honorary siblings" (cousins), Pamela J. Edson and Thomas Michael Morosky. He had been baptized in the United Congregational Church, confirmed in the Christ Episcopal Church and peacefully passed away at home surrounded by loving family members.

He was married for more than 60 years to the love of his life since the fifth grade at Samuel Huntington School, Jeanne Kathryn Dunion. Together they had two wonderful children, Jon Paul Morosky and Carol Patricia Morosky. Carol and her husband Andrew Trenor Morse gave him his "very best buddy," his grandson Trenor Frisbie Morse.

He and Jeanne were members of the Norwich Free Academy (NFA), Class of 1962. At NFA, he served as a president of his upper class. He was a top honor student graduating with a full year of collegiate credits in UConn courses offered at NFA for the first time. He was also quarterback and co-captain of the 1961 NFA Capital District Conference (CDC) Championship football team that went undefeated against all CDC teams that included all four Hartford high schools, New Britain High School and, in the longest running football rivalry in the nation, New London High School.

He was a member of the Yale Class of 1966, receiving degrees in physics and astronomy. He played freshman football and developed a hobby in a new technology called electronics. He went on to "work" 40 years at his hobby at Electric Boat (EB) as an electronics engineer where he rose to the position of manager of the Electrical and Electronic System Engineering Department. His most significant contribution at EB was to develop a shipboard test program for Trident Electronic Systems that reduced the test time from two years to one year permitting all 18 Tridents to achieve their construction schedules.

His community service positions included treasurer of the Park Congregational Church, director of the William W. Backus Hospital, corporator of the Norwich Free Academy, president of the Westbrook Fishing Club, and chairman of the Groton Long Point Water Commission.

A passionate and accomplished fly fisherman, he pursued the mighty Atlantic salmon on some of the most renowned rivers in the world, including trips to Iceland, Ireland, Scotland, Labrador, New Brunswick, and Quebec.

He was predeceased by his parents; numerous aunts and uncles; and his "honorary sibling" Thomas Michael. He is survived by his wife, children, grandson; siblings and their children and grandchildren; his sister-in-law Patricia Dunion Sanders and her husband Russell Sanders; aunt Joanne (Morosky) Fusaro and uncle John Fusaro; and aunt Jane Morosky.

The family thanks the Smilow Waterford Cancer Center and Hartford Healthcare Hospice for their compassionate care.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 pm. Friday, May 2, at The Mystic Funeral Home, 51 Williams Ave., Mystic.
