Randy LaBatte Obituary

Mystic - Randy R. LaBatte Jr., 40, of Mystic, passed away unexpectedly, April 8, 2022. Born in Groton, he is the son of Randy R. LaBatte Sr. of California, and Joan Calvin (Robert) of Georgia.

He was employed for many years in the maintenance division for numerous shipyards throughout New England. Randy loved the ocean, boating and was an excellent diver. He also enjoyed reading, watching the UConn women's basketball, the Boston Red Sox and college football. His family and friends will cherish all the fond memories of Randy; and he will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, he leaves his two children who were his pride and joy, Alden and Pat LaBatte of Groton. and their mother Courtney Lundfelt; his brother Eric LaBatte (Kristal) of North Carolina; sister Jacqueline LaBatte of Connecticut; his step-father James McClenathan; his uncles, Joseph and James Duffy, Timothy, Michael and Jason LaBatte; aunts: Anne McEachern (Richard), Patricia Polo (James), Melody, Shannon and Kathleen LaBatte; a nephew, Ari LaBatte; and a niece, Gwen Gilchrist. He also is survived by many cousins; and friends; a great-aunt, Margaret Casey; and his beloved cat Pip. He was predeceased by his grandparents, James and Frances Duffy and Reuben and Viva LaBatte; two aunts; and two cousins.

Randy's family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at the Mystic Funeral Home located on Route 1 in Mystic (GPS directions to the funeral home: 51 Williams Avenue, Mystic). Services and burial will be held privately.
