Raymond C. Getty

New London - Raymond C. Getty, 68, of New London, passed away Oct. 11, 2024, at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born in New London, to Malcolm and Julia (Pitt) Getty. Raymond graduated from Waterford High School in 1975 and worked most recently at Walmart for over ten years.
He was known by many people as a kind and caring person. His life was not an easy one. He had many struggles that we may never truly understand. He had to face each one every single day, and yet he chose to be the caring and giving person that most people know and love. He always put others' needs above his own. He always strived for independence and didn't want to be a burden on anyone. Raymond was an organ donor and through his gift, he has helped other families.
Raymond is survived by his older brothers, Ronald Getty of Uncasville, and David Getty and Amanda Getty, also of Uncasville; a niece, Heather Getty Montoya of Inlet Beach, Fla.; and a nephew, Adam Getty of Waterford; along with many cousins; along with four great-nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at Neilan Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Avenue, New London. A private burial for the family will be held later.
