Rose Marie Garvey

1931 - 2025

Windsor Locks - Rose Marie Garvey of Windsor Locks, passed peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, just shy of her 94th birthday. Born to Rose and John Kurlick in West Hartford, Feb. 6, 1931, Rose was the youngest of 13 children, six of whom survived to adulthood. She was orphaned at age nine and cared for by her sister Ann.

Rose, the first in her family to earn a high school diploma, graduated from Windsor's John Fitch High School in 1949. She then worked at Kaman Aircraft and often spoke fondly of her kind boss Mr. Green. She enjoyed decades of happiness in her marriage to Thomas F. Garvey of West Springfield, Mass., and they shared many years together in Windsor Locks and Port Orange, Fla.

Rose now joins her husband, Tommy, who died in 2004. She also was predeceased by her siblings: Frank, Mike, Paul, John and Ann; along with many dear friends. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Joan (Simborski) Mulkern and her husband, Michael, of Houston; Rosanne (Simborski) Smyle and her husband, Michael, of Stonington; Paula Garvey Bird of Boston; and Lisa Garvey of East Granby. She also leaves her grandsons: Matthew Mulkern and his fiancée, Marta; Kevin Mulkern and his wife, Zena; and Fred and Emmett Bird; along with a host of nieces and nephews. We are grateful for the kindness and the loving care Donna Wright bestowed upon our mother for nine years. They became best buds.

Visitation hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, Windsor Locks. Interment will be held at a later date.
