Samuel Rand Obituary

Old Lyme - Samuel Andrew Rand, 84, of Old Lyme, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, after a day surrounded in love by his family.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rose Marie Rand.

He is survived by five children and their spouses; sons, Dwayne Rand (Alice) and Thomas Rand (Sue); daughters, Denise Rand Albert (Jeff), Kim Rand Sapia (John) and Heidi Rand Lucas (Bill); grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers, Allen and Fred Rand; his sister, Helen Teixeira; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He served proudly in the Armed Forces during the Korean conflict and received several medals of honor. He loved music and played the guitar. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying camping, fishing and hunting with his sons. He was a retired State of Connecticut employee.

Services for family and friends will be held at 10 a.m. June 9, at the Lyme Congregational Church.

My sincere condolences to all of my cousins at this sad time. I will always remember all the summers my parents and I spent on blood street all the picnics and swimming and climbing that big rock all the walks to Rogers lake great times. Rest in peace Sam. Darlene
