Sara Bayreuther Obituary

Niantic - Sara I. Bayreuther, age 99, of Niantic, had a change of address July 29, 2024, and is now in Heaven with her husband, Christian; her two daughters: an infant and Nancy; her father and mother, Stewart and Myra Clark; a sister, Jean Davis; and a brother, Alvin Clark. She is survived by her four sons: Leigh (Carol) of Florida, Lind (Patricia) of Niantic, Lloyd (Heidi) of New Hampshire, and John (Cindy) of Niantic; and son-in-law Brent Jacobsen of Niantic; also, nine grandchildren: Shannon (Gary Pastizzo), Rebecca (Richard Donohue), Nathan (Elizabeth), Jonathan (Kelsey), Peter (Jennifer), Sara (Ryan Koopman), Matthew, Christopher (Michelle) and Kacie (Paul Klee); and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She was born in China of missionary parents and moved to Massachusetts when she was two years old and finally to New London. She became a registered nurse and later graduated to being a mother and homemaker. Still later, she helped her husband and his brother Warren create Bayreuther Boatyard in Niantic, and ran it for many years. Together Sara and Chris also built a house in St. Croix and enjoyed much of their retirement there. Sailing was a great joy to them both and their lovely boats were an expression of their appreciation and pleasure in that activity. Their children are left with extraordinary memories of times spent on the water as a family; and they are very grateful for those special adventures.

God blessed many people with Sara's life; she was a kind, loving, sharing person. She was a hard worker and a gracious lady, a wonderful mother and example of a faithful and loving support to her husband for all of their sixty-plus years of married life. We thank God for putting her in our lives and will remember her always with her favorite Psalm 19:14: "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer."

A Memorial Service will be held for Sara at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Niantic Community Church. Donations may be made in her memory to the Niantic Community Church or to the charity of your choice.

We are so sorry to learn of the passing of Aunt Sara. Not a day of her life went by that she wasn't surrounded by love, and gave love to anyone freely. Whether through a snack or full meal at Aunt Sara and Uncle Chris's table, with vegetables from their beautiful victory garden that was tended to dearly! My gosh, they loved that garden and were darn proud of it !
99 1/2 years is incredible! Happy every day of those years. Who can ask for anything better?
