Sara Mae Denison Williams

Moosup - Sara Mae Denison Williams, who resided in Moosup, went to heaven on July 3, 2018. She was born in Westerly on April 11, 1981.

Sara Mae's schooling began at Mystic Elementary School and St. Michaels School, where she skipped grade 5 and went to 6th grade. Then on to Pawcatuck Middle School, Stonington High School, and The University of Southern Maine.

Sara Mae was an artist. She sold her first piece of art at age nine at The Hygienic Art Show in New London. Sara Mae had a love for music. She started piano lessons at age five, guitar lessons at 12. Guitars that she played were acoustic, electric and 12-string acoustic. The dulcimer, organ, banjo, and recorder were instruments that she played as well. She had a long career of singing and writing music. Sara Mae enjoyed singing with her Aunt Barbara and playing in many bands. Mundos Crazy Circus and Second Hand Soul were more recent bands.

Travels in life: Sara Mae accomplished seeing 36 states and four countries.

Sara Mae's memorial service is at noon on Sept. 8 at The Road Church, 903 Pequot Tail (Rt. 234), in Stonington. A reception will follow in The Road Church Hall after the service. Burial is private. No donations or flowers are necessary.

Sara Mae is survived by her father Thomas Denison Williams and his wife Cherie Norton Williams; her daughter Sativa Garrity and partner Bryan Garrity; her aunts and uncles Gloria and Dennis Hanczar, Barbara McLeod, Jeffrey McLeod and Frederick Norton; cousins Nykola Dentico, Alexys Wilbur, Bradley McLeod, and their families; and her grandmother Constance Norton. Sara Mae was predeceased by her mother Laurie McLeod Williams, and her grandparents Elizabeth and Russell Williams, Barbara and Rodney McLeod, and Frederick Norton.

Sara Mae had a beautiful soul and she sings with the angels.
